Top Food/Restaurant Favorites/Best thing to eat where you live?
In Tahoe City, I recommend Sol y Lago (Sierra Latino cuisine, not Mexican), Fiamma (Northern Italian), and Christy Hill (New American). If you are looking for something a bit more upscale with an outstanding wine list, head to the unpretentious yet classy Plump Jack Café in Squaw Valley. Right next to Plump Jack is a great Irish Pub, Auld Dubliner, which serves a fantastic après ski Irish coffee. During the summer months, the best spots are on a lakefront patio. Sunnyside is great for a cold beer and fried zucchini, Garwood?s serves classic American, and if you want to take it up a notch, head to the West Shore Café, sit on plush sofas under heat lamps, sip martinis and munch on the truffle gnocchi.
First place you'd take an out-of-town visitor?
In 2009, it will be the Ritz-Carlton that's going to open at the North Star Resort in 2009.
