How would you spend the perfect afternoon in your city?
All four of us— Randy, Jesse (7), Maya (5) and I hop on our bikes and ride from our home to any of a number of favorite spots across town for breakfast or lunch— and then continue our ride through our favorite riding streets before returning home.
Top Food/Restaurant Favorites/Best thing to eat where you live?
Our favorite place to eat is at home in our kitchen where we make thin crust pizza with a creative variety of toppings. We love to do this— make the dough in the afternoon, whip up some inventive new pizza idea, cover the counter with other pizza-making possibilities, and let everyone have a go at it. We are thin crust devotees. I grew up in New Haven Connecticut, home of the finest thin crust pizza you can imagine. So the crust is critical for us.
First place you’d take an out-of-state visitor?
First stop for out of state visitors is The Gamble House, which is a gorgeously preserved specimen of the Craftsman Architecture our town is known for.
Favorite ways to spend time?
We ski and dine with friends whose parents did the same with my parents and whose children have now befriended our children. I read books with my children and listen to my children play the piano.
Your favorite local drink right now?
My favorite local drink is the lemonade my kids make from the Mexican lemons that grow in our backyard.
