Film, Food and Fun: Enjoy the Ultimate LA Experience!

With such a vast culinary landscape, it's nearly impossible to get a true taste of everything that Los Angeles has to offer in just one trip. From cocktails on the coast to late night roof-top dining Downtown, there are hundreds of miles of tasty discoveries to be had in funky neighborhood enclaves and off-the-beaten-path places. Innovation and ingenuity come naturally to a city where nothing is too over-the-top.

As everyone knows, LA is also home to Hollywood, movie capital USA. Bottle Shock, slated for release in August, tells the fun and funny true story of how California wines knocked the socks off the French. Bottle Shock, which premiered at the world-famous Sundance Film Festival, stars Bill Pullman and Alan Rickman and is sure to become a fan favorite among wine- and film-lovers alike.

  • An Artful Day - Thursday, August 7, 2008 - Your LA experience begins upon your arrival at LAX where your chariot awaits, courtesy of Midway Rental. Take a quick spin through neighboring Manhattan Beach or Santa Monica for the fresh ocean air and a little shopping before you head over to Sofitel L.A., where you will be housed in posh luxury for the next three nights. (Be sure to keep an eye out for Iron Chef-winner Kerry Simon of Simon L.A., located just off the lobby.) Freshen up, and then start your evening with a tour of LACMA, The Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and the amazing new Broad Contemporary Art Museum-the biggest thing to happen in the LA art scene since the Getty Center debuted a decade ago. Then enjoy an incredible dinner at nearby Grace Restaurant, where acclaimed chef Neal Fraser mans the stoves.
  • Experience Bottle Shock Firsthand - Friday, August 8, 2008 - Sleep in, because you're going to need it! After a leisurely morning, get ready for some serious star-sighting as you lunch at Spago, Wolfgang Puck's uber-famous Beverly Hills restaurant. Take advantage of world-class shopping on Rodeo Drive, nearby Melrose Avenue, or The Beverly Center located literally across the street from your hotel. Since your night will be a busy one, we've arranged for you to have a little nosh at your hotel-poolside if you like-with two gourmet dinner gift baskets from La Cachette.

It's off to the main attraction-an exclusive Producer's Screening of Bottle Shock, See how the famous Paris Tastings of 1976 put California's wine growers on the map. This "Judgment of Paris" changed the wine world forever, and Bottle Shock tells the story of the California wine dream. Post-screening, learn firsthand why California wines have become so famous, as Ian Blackburn (renowned Wine Enthusiast and educator) hosts an intimate Learn About Wine gathering with optional tasting in honor of the film.
  • The VIP Way - Saturday, August 9, 2008 - Start your day with breakfast at LA institution Mäni's on Fairfax, a favorite local joint and an organic innovator for nearly 20 years. Then head out to white-hot dining neighborhood Culver City, where you'll meet Chef Ben Ford (yes, dad is Indiana Jones) for a personal tour of his favorite gourmet and cookware store, Surfas, where you'll be treated to a few goodies for your own kitchen. Afterward, back at Ford's Filling Station, Chef Ben will treat you to a phenomenal lunch starring his signature gastro pub fare. Next, take a leisurely drive up the coast to Rosenthal - The Malibu Estate, where you will receive a private insider's tour of Malibu winemaking and an optional tasting experience. Cap off your night with a truly exquisite culinary experience at Valentino, winner of numerous Wine Spectator and Food & Wine magazine awards of excellence.
  • Last Taste of LA - Sunday, August 10, 2008 - It may be your last day in town, but you have something special planned. Chef Eric Greenspan will take you on a private morning tour of the renowned Hollywood Farmer's Markets, as he introduces you to local producers, shows you unusual produce and talks about his own market-driven menus. Then back to The Foundry on Melrose for his outrageous Sunday Jazz Brunch. Pancake lasagna anyone? Now that's the way to end a culinary trip to LA!
